Mariana Brandão obtained her Master’s Degree in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto and underwent a residency program on Medical Oncology at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto. She then moved to Institut Jules Bordet – Hôpital Universitaire de Bruxelles, in Brussels, for a research fellowship and completed her PhD at the University of Porto.

She is now working at the Clinic of Thoracic Oncology and at the Phase I Clinical Trials Unit of IJB and she is a Faculty member of the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

She is developing a research project on the role of neutrophils in the development of non-small cell lung cancer at Prof. Meylan’s lab.

She is also the Chair of the Young and Early Career Investigators at the EORTC Lung Cancer Group and member of multiple ESMO Committees.
